Many years ago, I attended a chamber music recital given by Roger Drinkall and Dian Baker, a well-known cello and piano duo. At this concert, I was awestruck. There was something about the chemistry between these two artists that made the music come alive in a way I hadn’t experienced before. Hearing, seeing, and feeling the musical dialogue set fire to my imagination. I wanted to play music like that, to explore the possibilities of this genre.
The art of chamber music is a great metaphor for how I like to work. Recognizing that we all bring different abilities, expertise, and intelligence to our dialogue, I believe that our distinct personalities and diversities of experience can create incredible collaborative opportunities. It is essential to understand each individual’s perspective, to map out and analyze the connections and conflicts of thought, before trying to achieve a synthesis.
In my work, I strive to find ways to communicate ideas that resonate with individual and audience, encourage critical and creative thinking, and convey a sense of something greater than ourselves. Whether the medium is a website, a course, a poem, or a musical performance, that is my goal.
I love learning new things, I enjoy applying the knowledge and expertise I have already developed, and I live for dialogue. Let’s talk.
